IN LOVING MEMORY OF THOSE WHOM HAVE GONE BEFORE US.

A very dear friend whom I should have stayed in touch with better. He was so full of energy. I miss him being in my life.
A person that I wish I had gotten to know better.

Oh man ... I have to talk about myself? I hate talking about myself. OK, here goes. My name depends on whom you ask, usually Jo Ann, Jo or the Librarian, although I have been called many things over the years. I am 5 foot 3 inches, have long, curly, brown hair/eyes, and live on Long Island.

I am currently; involuntarily single, but willing to change that for the right man. Are you the right man? I don't want a fling, I want the real thing. If you are truly interested in me for a serious, long term relationship then; check out my picture albums, blogs, TAKE THE TIME TO GET TO KNOW ME AND FIND OUT FOR YOURSELF ... you just might be surprised at the vast multitude of things that interest me. Also, be sure that you can deal with how I look day to day, rather than once or twice a year. I don’t expect people to change so don’t expect me to do so. I am set in my ways! I have been told I am very independent, which seems strange because I live with my folks. I also use dial up service (when it works), so it takes a while to do things. Good thing I am a very patient person.

I don't judge or look down on others, those who do so turn my stomach and make me sick. You know who you are, and you have absolutely no clue about all the wonderful people you are missing out on. I believe in living by the golden rule ... Do unto others as you would have done unto you. It doesn't always work, but I refuse to give up on the goodness of mankind. After all, there is some goodness in everyone, right? Give me real, down to earth people any day, whether they are white collar, blue collar, have mega bucks, are broke, homeless, or somewhere in between. I try to treat everyone the same, but tend to gravitate towards people who have truly kind hearts.

I live for my friends, Rock & Roll, and to bring joy to others. I try not to ask for much in return, except for the opportunity to see my friends truly happy every single day of their lives. (Nah, it is not like I want too much out of life.)

Actually, I just try my best to do right by people as often as possible. Maybe I'll do a drive by - to make sure those I care about are safe and sound from a big night out, send out emails/text to hopefully brighten up their days, try to make their lives a bit easier, or drop in to see how they have been doing. I have been told that I seem to have a sense of when someone is in need of a hand because I just show up out of the blue. I would never ask anyone to do what I do. It is not easy and probably will, one day, be the death of me.

"I'd rather laugh with the sinners, than cry with the saints, the sinners are much more fun." - Billy Joel I try to do my fair share of charitable acts. I have organized and hosted food drives to benefit the Harry Chapin Food Bank/Long Island Cares for the past 3 years. Donation results for each of those years were as follows:

2008 - 639 pounds + $20

2007 - 445 pounds + $10

2006 - 1,319 1/2 pounds

I have also attended and supported such events as Dee Snider's Bikers For Babies run to benefit The March of Dimes for the past 6 years, and Fingers' (of WBAB) Cold Finger Run to benefit Camp Adventure for the past 5 years. I participated in donating $400 worth of assorted items towards the World Trade Center collections through Island Harvest back in 2001, my family and I regularly donate to Big Brothers, and every year leave a bag out for the Postal Service food drive. I have also attended countless Chinese Auctions - which have benefited many various groups and organizations, (including The Teddy Fund, Our Lady of the Hamptons School, Tim’s Kids, American Cancer Society, Pancreatic Cancer Association Network, CAT – Placement and Rescue, Catholic Daughters of the Court Of St. Gerard, United Methodist Church of Patchogue, and the National Organization for Rare Disease – APS Type l) and have attended numerous benefit shows throughout my past 24 years of participating in the local music scene, including 3 benefits for Jamie Giel, 2 for Joe Oppici, 2 for Momma Dukes (which benefited the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund), 1 for Mike Tirelli, and many, many more. I have also personally assisted people, over the years, which I knew were in need of a helping hand.

Currently I am in the process of compiling/organizing family photographs and information, as well as looking into and possibly organizing a community/neighborhood watch program. I also manage my dad’s diet, tend to my folks well being, help out with household shopping, and assist with child care and transportation of nieces and nephews, and I am available to my friends 24/7 by phone and email.

"It's the small things in life that are remembered ... the little things people do that make you feel loved and cared for; respected and wanted around ... these are reasons that I do the things I do for others ... the reasons why I still know that good resides in human beings and that it is not to be lost forever ... even the smallest act of decency to another can last a lifetime ..." - Diane (Crimson - NYDM)
